Day 2 - Moving on to Trinidad, Colorado

Started our new day heading towards the Land of Enchantment. The weather was perfect, a little breeze, no humidity with sunshine abound, temperature 84 degrees, and wonderful company.

We stayed dry, but watched storms go through the plans of west Texas. It looked as though we could almost reach out and touch the rain, but we remained in the sunshine.

The wind became stronger the closer we came to the New Mexico border and magestic windmill farms seemed to pop up everywhere.

The plateaus started rising out of the ground in the northwestern part of Texas but really became abundant in New Mexico. These photos don't capture the beauty of the tree covered rock meeting the plans.

Some looked like neighboring castles hidden in a forest.

Right before we reached Raton, we detoured to the Capulin Volcano National Monument. Here Ken and Miles are showing off their brand new National Monument memberships. A little perk for seniors, we can visit any national monuments, parks, etc. for free.

At the top of the national park we were about 7,000 ft. up and able to take in more breathtaking views, not to mention looking down to the bottom of the over a million year old volcano. See those little red dots in that picture, that's people.

Unfortunately, Miles and I completely missed the Colorado border signage, so we can prove that we actually crossed over. However, after checking into our hotel in Trinidad, CO we discovered a quaint little town center that felt like we had somehow gone back in time.

We found an out of the ordinary little Italian restaurant in the area. The staff would breakout in song and we must have shown an unusual enthusiasm for the singers because the singer with the microphone came to our table and prompted Ken and Miles to join him in singing. It was really a perfect ending to a terrific day.
